LONG LAKE WILDFIRES COMPLEX

USPA NEWS - The resources currently engaged in the effort consist of 10 helicopters, four planes, and a bird dog. On-site firefighting personnel include 4 Department of Natural Resources (DNR) members, 60 Ontario-based firefighters, 40 from Quebec, 60 local firefighters, and roughly 30 pieces of heavy machinery.
The Long Lake wildfires complex remains out of control, with an estimated 8468 hectares affected. Fortunately, no additional damage has been reported. Crews have accomplished notable progress with dozer guards and hose line placement, and the aircraft water drops conducted yesterday were extremely successful.

With the partial re-entry of residents in Annapolis County, the NSCC Middleton evacuation shelter will transition to standby status on September 4th at 8 am and will be reinstated as needed.
The Bridgetown Fire Hall Comfort Centre (10 am– 4 pm) will continue to operate, and the Salvation Army in Bridgetown will persist in collecting and distributing donations.
